Last Thursday we were contacted by Department of Health and Human Services that the Chief Health Officer has declared the Sunshine West Industrial Precinct which includes our Sunshine West Depot as a Tier 2 exposure site due to COVID-19 fragments found in waste-water testing.
The declaration meant that almost 300 Transdev staff were required to get tested and resulted in disruption to bus services operating from our Sunshine West and North Fitzroy depots on Friday.
We have now received the overwhelming majority of test results and are pleased to report all returned results have been negative. We were also able to restore regular services by mid Friday afternoon minimising disruption to our customers.
Rachel Spencer, Interim Managing Director, Transdev Melbourne said that clear procedures and collaboration ensured services were able to be restored quickly, “Our level of determination and desire to succeed ability to adapt to changing circumstances and communicate effectively in a very volatile situation were key to minimising the disruption to our customers.”
“The fact we were able to restore services so quickly demonstrated the strength effectiveness of our working relationship with our colleagues at the Department of Transport and our commitment to delivering a safe and reliable bus service to Victorians.”
As a precautionary measure we have also undertaken deep cleans of all of our depots. This is in addition to the enhanced regular cleaning procedures undertaken daily of our depots and vehicles.
